Breast feeding

There was a bit of commotion at the National Gallery on Friday because a breastfeeding mother was asked to breast feed her child in a "Mother & Child" room.

Now, I don't have anything aginst women breastfeeding in public or the right for the gallery to ask that it be done in their specially set aside space. What I do have a problem with is the fact that the argument that there are paintings of breastfeeding mothers hanging in the gallery should make it ok to do so.

They have paintings of food hanging in the gallery. Does that make it ok for me to eat inside? (I don't actually remember if you're allowed to take food in or not to tell the truth).

They also have "The Execution of Maximilian", some guy being tortured and another of someone bleeding from a serious neck wound hanging in the gallery.

Wait, you mean we're not allowed to torture people in the National Gallery? My understanding is that picture-hanging is clearly impied consent.

(and by that I mean, good point)
