That would make tape backups obsolete for one.
I don't think that the combined HDD space of the six machines in my house is over a Tb yet but I'm sure by 2010 we'll have plenty of stuff to fill the space with.
BOFFINS AND boffinettes at Imperial College London are developing a new optical disk that can store a terabyte of data.
