Sunday Evening

I've had a lazy weekend... didn't get up to much. Played CS & HL2, finished "Caves of Steel" and started "The Robots of Dawn".

I watched "Ichi, the Killer" on Friday...damn, that's a freaky movie... sort of like non-cartoon manga.

I don’t know whether to be intrigued or scared shitless. I guess I am both. Do you feel that this movie is worth checking out? I am sure you have seen the John Woo movie The Killer, but if you have not it is worth a look see. I am a big Woo fan….not to mention Chow Yung Fat fan. I watched a wonderful film a few months ago that left a lasting impression. It was A Japanese Story. I highly recommend it.

I quite enjoyed it even if it is a bit of a gore-fest. Blood & sensless violence aside, it's nice cange watching a film that wasn't made in Hollywod and I'm glad it wasn't badly dubbed or full of cheesey accents...

...and the sensless violence was good too.

Hmmm... I was just having a look at Blockbuster for "The Killer" and noticed there's a cartoon version of "Ichi, the Killer" as well. I've added it to my list with the Woo one.

Well, maybe I should start out with baby steps and see the animated version first. I am pretty collected when it comes to spook flicks, but this time of year always gets me a little more creeped out than usual. I guess it is the fallen leaves, smells, rain, cold damp nights and the fact that it gets dark at fucking 5pm. That is what I get living so close to the equator, I guess. Anyway, I will see if I can locate the animated version watch it over the holiday weekend (while the paint dries in my master bedroom….all work and no play make Lylou a dull girl).

Ahh... but it's not really a spook film, just bloody... sort of like a cross between Kill Bill, Tenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and some fetish flick I haven't seen.

I think the animated version may be the prequel which would probably make it a good first choice anyway though.

Luckily it's already light by the time that I leave for work, it's getting dark at around 16:00 here though. It could be worse though... Currently Oslo's sunrise is at 8:30 and sunset at 15:30.

Hmmmmm, the jury is still out on Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2. I enjoyed them and I loved the concept of them, but there was something lacking for me….or maybe it was lacking it was the redundancy that annoyed me. I have spent many hours of conversation trying to defend my dismay with the two movies, but I can’t seem to come up with any valid reason to why I don’t like them. I love martial arts movies and I have thoroughly enjoyed Quentin Tarantino's films in the past. These two just left me empty. I must be an unimaginative woman….NOT!! At least I hope I am not, since I spent many years and dollars attending university for my Bachelors of Fine Art. By the way, don’t take that to mean I have serious works of art posted on my blog, because most of my photos are snap shots for fun. I only have my serious stuff in print. Blahblahblahblah….enough about me and my art work. Do you create? I hate that term create.

"Create" I like the word (I think it apeals to my god complex).

I'm a software developer by trade which is a creative profession. I have dabbbled in drawing and sculpture but I think my work tends to fall into the "Creative" category rather than "Artistic". (I keep threatening to join a drawing class but never seem to get around to it...)

Manufacture, construct, erect, establish, assemble, invent...hmmmmmmmm….I guess you are right, the other options fall short. “Create” it is. What kind of software do you “create?” Would I have used any of them? I have an extensive back ground in software use….teehee.

I think a drawing class is a fabulous idea!! An evening figure drawing class that meets every Wednesday night from 7-10pm. Just think about how fun it would be….you would get to go to the art supply store and buy brand new charcoals and pencils, a new sketch pad…..WOW…the fun of it all. (Yes, I am a dork) I imagine that you would meet some good woman in class as well (if it is woman you enjoy…hate to make assumptions). I think the average ratio of women to men in art classes is 4 to 1. My threat has been to take up Spanish again. It has been close to 20 years since I have spoken it, so it would be starting from scratch. Languages are not like riding a bike. I figure Spanish is becoming Americas second language and I better jump on board before I get left behind. I am far from one of those Americans that believe in the English only bullshit (as I stuff my face with turkey on our traditional Thanksgiving meal, as the church going freaks fill the heads of young children with prophetic untruths about the origin of our country and the holiday). I am still a little grumpy from the results of the last election.

Ok, you've convinced me... drawing classes it is! (I like those odds.)

There's got to be loads of places that give drawing lessons in the area.

I mostly work on bespoke SQL & VB applications but have been doing SQL admin for a while now (too long). But I only have two weeks and two days left before my contract comes to an end and I can find something more suitable. (This time I'll be more fussy about the position I take.)

SQL – VB- you might as well be speaking Spanish to me. I have no idea what any of that Dow Jones industrial talk means….(Dow Jones talk makes my brain click off, because I don’t understand it, and I start day dreaming about traveling). You state so casually that you only have a couple of weeks until your contract ends. Are you worried about finding another job? I would imagine that there are plenty in your field, but job hunting always stresses me out. The good thing is that you will have more time to research drawing classes in your area to find just the right mix of women. teehee.

I'm not too worried about finding a new job at the moment... I'll worry about that next year. Right now I'm looking forward to some time off.

I think change is good. It helps that I'm not enjoying my current contract too much.

Hey! how did you know about the art classes?

I just found one Wednesdays at my local library 7-9pm. *grin*

I am physic!! I guess graduating with a BFA help out in knowing class schedules, but really it is because I have been looking at them for years myself. They always seem to fall on Wednesday nights. I wonder if those art freaks believe that the creative spirits are most active on Wednesday. Teehee. Anyway, so you enrolled? If so, I am extremely impressed. Not only an extremely passionate man (Vespa), but a real go-getter. I guess I should expect nothing less from a man with a “God” complex. Teehee. I hope you are getting my humor at this point and I can stop using the “teehee” after my jokes. Can I take off the training wheels?

I haven't quite enrolled yet, I did mail them though and am waiting for them to send me the details on when the next course starts. Anyway, I'll keep you posted *grin*.
