What's in your keyboard?

England full of unhealthy geeks, says UK Online

98% eat at desks

THE RESULTS FOR what could well be the most important IT-based survey ever conducted - that's "what do we in the UK, eat at our PC" - are in, and they're not looking too good according to Brit ISP UK Online.

98% of people surveyed said that they ate their breakfast, lunch and dinner at the desk every day, say UK Online. With a genuine concern for the health of British PC-users (but not Mac users), UK Online sent a selection of keyboards to the Reading Scientific Services Microscopy Laboratory for testing to find out if the "nation's desktops are as healthy as its new 8Mb service".

I'm surprised that so many people eat at their computers... admittedly I'm one of them but it couldn't have been a very diverse group of people.

They didn't say anything about ash either... they must have been examining office keyboards....

A Geek: A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as eating live bugs.

Computer Bug: An error or defect in software or hardware that causes a program to malfunction.

Shouldn’t a “computer geek” be a person who ingests the defective hardware of a computer system for the entertainment of others, instead of a person who is single-minded or accomplished in technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept? Hmm….

DARN…I had written a very clever comment (like always) and for some reason it did post to your blog. Could it be that your blog is jealous and rebelling against my sassy humor? If you are lucky, I may try go back in my rolodex (the thing most call their brain) and see if I can retrieve the valuable information.

I only ate at my keyboard on the day you first posted this. Since then it's been right out. (Now I just eat while walking across campus.)

I'd pay to see someone eat my faulty computer hardware (especially the manufacturer).

In my case I have to eat software bugs.

Why? Do you still have your baby teeth? teehee.

Speaking of “chewin’ on the bit,” leave it up to the Ausies to come up with software that you can load into your computer to prevent “drinking and dialing.”
