Where did the weekend go?

Monday morning already...

Saturday was spent sorting out Jon's new Vaio. Mostly downloading patches off the net which was a good excuse to visit the local Wetherspoons for lunch. I'm supprised that I haven't been there more while living out here.

That was followed by some thorough performance testing on the new machine in the form of UT2k4 *grin*.

Sunday afternoon was spent sorting out Jason's machine.

HDD problems was my diagnosis which left us plenty of time to visit The Sovereigns while the disks were being formated.

That led to a curry at Bombay Night that had me cursing myself for not opting for a pizza instead at 04:00 this morning.

Weekend

W00t. It has started and a long one at that.

Somehow managed to loose the group between the first and second pubs, I guess I'll get home early tonight.

Did pick up a copy of "Call of Duty" on the way which should keep me busy for a while. It's been recommended to me by a few people now. It's about time that I added it to my collection.

I managed to stay away from the kebabs this evening and went for BK instead. The safer option by far. Even if it is far less memorable.

Oh joy

I got a seat on the train!

It's another wonderful Summer day. I hope it holds for through the bank holiday weekend.

I had a good night out with my colleagues last night. I still haven't been able to organise a game of UT2k4 yet. I think I might have to find another game to take them on in. One that's not to bandwith hungry so that dialup can't be used as an excuse. Internet Hearts perhaps?

I might make a start on a pda-friendly version of my site over the weekend. I suppose I should take the time to prepare for next weeks move.

It's late

Usually I'm thinking about going to bed by this time of night.... Must be getting old.

I'm just on my way home from the pub. I should get home just after 00:12. Hmmm... It's going to be a long day tommorrow. I'll have to instigate a pub lunch.

The demo that I was supposeed to do this morning was postponed. I'm a bit releived and disapointed at the same time. Now Ii'll have to go through the same thing next week some time.

Hehe, sorry about the typos. It's quite difficult to type on a PDA with double vision oh an extremely bouncy train. (Not that I'm making excuses or anything)

Nerves

I have to demo the software that I'm setting up today. It should be interesting seeing that I haven't really used it much. So far I've been concentrating on setting it up and importing the legacy data.

It's only 30 minutes...

... It's going to be a long 30 minutes if I don't prepare something to show when I get in to work...

The usual...

...standing room only on the train and for some reason the windows have been sealed.

I suppose I could have waited untill the next one and grabbed a seat, so I can't complain.

...that would mean another 15 min wait though... I can handle standing if it gets me home sooner. I'm starving. The kebab must be wearing off. It did have me thinking about it until way after lunch.

Note to self:
Must remember to buy toilet paper on the way home.

...Kebab

Oh evil kebab
Why must last nights indulgence
Still haunt this morning

Kebabs

It's amazing how the after taste stays in your mouth for ages after you've actually finished it. Despite the beer and ciggarettes consumed in the mean time.

Note to self:
Must remember to buy toilet rolls on the way home.

Ticking

Hmm... Just doing a spot check on my (soon to be) local. Unimpressed with the fact that they closed the kitchen early. Their food is usualy good. They didn't seem impressed that we ate take-aways in their pub on the other hand.

Way to much fiber.

I shouldn't have had that last raisin & prune flapjack before leaving work and boarding this crowded train.

Ok, I can't back up the fact that there prunes in it but it was still a mistake.

Pfft...

I've managed to mess up my mail settings on my pda.

Monday morning

It's another beautiful morning. Perfect weather for delays on the train... That way I get to enjoy a bit of the sunshine, even if it is filtered through dirty glass.

Delays on the tube are not as welcome.

I'm sure it's possible to calculate your distance from Waterloo station based on the size / frequency / freshness of graffiti at any given point. (Trees may come into that formula somewhere as well.)

Well... I'm just about to dive into the sea of commuters at Waterloo.

Hmmm....

I'm undecided... I think I'll have to mess around with adding a few pictures without it to see if it's worth adding yet another app to my system tray.

I'm going to have to start taking more pictures...

It's good to know that there are desks in a worse state than mine... Nice curtains though.

Professional Gamers

It would have sounded like my ideal job when I was a kid. These guys make it sound like hard work. Time for a change in career perhaps *grin*.

I think I'll work on my UT2k4 experience this morning.

Gutted

Missed this evenings expedition to the pub.

I'll have to find another source of alcohol.

Late night visitor

A bit of civilized weather on the way in to work this morning.

I thought that it would be a good idea to get a good nights sleep yesterday to make up for the little that I got over the last few days only to be woken up at 03:30 by my neighbour's cat that decided to explore my flat. I think it probably climbed through my window to get out of the rain and had a bit of trouble finding it's own way out again.

I wouldn't have even noticed that it was there if it didn't have bells attached to it's collar.

Yeah, I know, it's been a while since I had some pussy spend the night...

Bored

Hmmm...

Another day of work is over.

Didn't achieve anything notable.

Didn't face any remarkable challenges.

Sigh... the highlight of the day was changing a switch that one of the departments are using.

I'll have to find something to tinker with on my website (shouldn't be too difficult).

Sitting on the train...

Damn it's a sticky day... I spent the winter commuting to work by Vespa... There's no way that I'll spend the summer commuting to work by train & tube.

I'll be able to scoot in to work from next month after I've moved. I'm looking forward to living in the capital again... Not that I haven't enjoyed being out in tne country side mind. It's just way too quiet out here.

Sharing with my friends should be a laugh. I haven't lived with them for a while and I think it will be a good change.

Now... If only I could sort out a decent dev job....

The politics at work at the moment are starting to frustrate me. Roll on October...

127.0.0.1, sweet 127.0.0.1

Hey, I managed to fight off the urge to operate heavy machinery all day and it turned out ok.

One of THOSE days

You know it's going to be one of those days when you wake up and smear gel into your beard instead of shaving cream.

It is coming...

...the 64-bit revolution.

OK, so it's just another 64-bit beta... but still.

All change please

"This is the final stop, all change please. All change!"

Not the nicest way to be roused from your slightly drunken slumber when you were supposed to get off at the first stop on a National Rail train. Thank god I wasn't heading North.

At least I got to see Winchester...

Meetings meetings meetings

Five days of user workshops have taken their toll. Thankfully I've got a full week to recover before having to listen to another presentation with management bickering over what actually happens in their departments.

Life as a developer was a lot more simple. I miss being able to loose myself in some development project instead of trying to work out how to fudge some "off-the-shelf" software to do what the company needs it to do.

It's enough to put me off system administration... what was I thinking?
