Black Day

The fan on my graphics card has died.

So tomorrow I'm going shopping for Graphics cards!

I've been putting off buying a new one for a while but this is the perfect excuse to get a new one.... now it's just a matter of how much I'm willing to spend.

Elbow Room

My pool game sucks.

I think I played the worst four games of pool that I've played in my life last night. I would never have guessed that my game would have deteriorated that much in three years and two beers.

It was still a good night out though. I think I'll have to convince the guys from work to take part in a Unreal Tournament tournament next so that I can win back my fiver.

Blockbuster

Another two DVDs have failed to arrive... If it carries on I think Blockbuster may close our account. They've been pretty good about replacing them so far but they can't be making much off our account if they loose two a month.

The British Library

*Chuckle*

Workers 'C' red over word-play at library

By Luke Leitch, Arts Reporter, Evening Standard

22 October 2004
The British Library is home to treasures including the Magna Carta, the Lindisfarne Gospels and the Gutenberg Bible. No wonder about 8,000 schoolchildren visit each year.

Now, thanks to a £5,000 arts initiative, the British Library has something new to shout about - but be warned: don't shout it too loudly.

The new acquisition? A glowing pink neon sign that says: "Has anybody seen Mike Hunt?"

Late...

I'm going to be late this morning.

I didn't sleep well. I woke up at around one in the morning to what sounded like my neighbor's kids running up and down the stairs with rollerblades on.

It's Friday!

Rizla+

I wanted to put a Rizla logo on my Vespa a few years ago but never got around to it... Damn the procastination.

I quite like the look of sponsorship logos on scooters... it always manages to make me smile.

eBay goodies

Ever wanted to get rid of invitations to events that you didn't want to attend? Flog them on eBay.

Well it was going quite well until a few people decided to make ridiculous bids...

Which file extension are you?

...Damn personality tests.

You are .txt The one everybody knows and relies on, but avoids in social settings because you're very boring and non-descript.

Bog-Standard XP

I give in. I'm reinstalling plain old XP Pro again on my main machine after trying 64-Bit XP for three months.

Most of the applications that I installed seemed to work without a problem. I was receiving a few errors though and I'm not sure if it was down to bad programming on the part of the application developers, XP in general or 64-Bit XP.

Rome - Total War not installing was the final straw and I'm just going to have to wait until M$ release the proper version.

Maggie's Farm

I found out that I didn't get the job that I was after. Apparently something came up in the company and they're not recruiting for the next few months but they'll give me a call next year.... hmmmm.

I guess I'm going to have to extend my current contract until December.

Holiday!

I'm planning my Christmas holidays.

I've decided to visit my grandmother in Germany for Christmas. It's the only way that I can be assured of getting a decent Christmas meal for a change (mmmm.... Rabbit).

My youngest brother arrives in London on the 5th of December and we'll leave for Germany on the 15th. Then back here on the 29th in time for New Years Eve.

I wonder how much beer, pretzels & Landjäger I can bring back in 38Kg of luggage.

Is there anything that Google can't do?

Inspector Google solves the crime
AP in Moxee
Saturday October 9, 2004
The Guardian

It's normally employed to drum up that missing address, phone number or website, or to check facts, dates, names and other miscellany.
But now the internet search engine Google has added crime-fighting capabilities to its formidable armoury, helping to solve a grisly mystery that has perplexed a town in northwest America for more than a decade.

30 min

Ok, they need another 30 min at the Scooter shop so I've found another cafe. (Right next door, no coffee though.)

I need to get a wifi enabled laptop for times like these.

Internet House

Ahh... this is a much better Internet Cafe. Not sure how I missed it on the way down earlier. I must have walked right past it. Their coffee's nice too.

I find using public computers like using public restrooms.... I usually feel a little dirty after using one.

Killing time...

We ran out of electricity again during the course of the night and I didn't reboot the web server *sigh*.. there goes my idea of browsing a few ads on my page while I'm here.

I'm sitting in an internet cafe while I wait for my Vespa to come out of the shop. I can pick it up at 12:30... if all goes well.

Bah, internet cafe's and their dodgy machines.... I don't seem to be able to have more than one IE window open for some reason...

SuSe

I finally have Suse installed on both the laptops and have all the updates that I need... I've been meaning to install it onto a machine for ages but haven't had any that weren't being used for something else.

Now I just have to find some tutorials to work out what the hell I'm doing (or at least how to do what I want to do.)

New scratches.

I got in earlier this morning but not early enough...

I ended up parking next to the same guy from yesterday on what I thought was the safe side of him and even gave him a bit of room but obviously that was not enough.

Our bikes got moved around by the late comers and my scooter ended up pushed up against his bike.

*Sigh* those scratches aren't going to polish out. I think I'm going to have words with him tomorrow.

Vespa

Ok, she's booked in for Saturday.

I got another parking ticket this afternoon. I was in the parking bay this morning (ok, just in the bay) when I took the picture but the guy next to me must have moved my scooter to get his bike out and didn't bother moving mine back.

I'm going to have to start going to work early again so that I can park in the middle.

The ongoing saga of my replacement shock

I took my Vespa in to have the shock replaced after they ordered the wrong one last week... only to find out that their replacement hasn't arrived yet.

It would have been nice if they had given me a call yesterday to tell me instead of waiting untill I came in.

Laptop Case

Thanks Craig...

A cool laptop case.

...I wonder if I can make one.

New Old Laptops

I've just adopted 2 old Laptops... Thanks Carin, I'll give them a good home.

(Well... one and a half, the second one has a few bits missing.)

R. Agius

I've been trying to get these guys to replace my front shock on my Vespa for the last two months now. The scoot's only a year old and it should be replaced under warranty but it's been a mission get them to do the work. After many phone calls and visits they finally got the replacement and agreed to do the work and booked in my Vespa today.

This afternoon I got a call from them saying that they had the wrong shock and they'll have to do it on Tuesday.

I think I'll find a decent mechanic once I get my shock sorted out.

Perseverance!
