Awesome Computer Cases

This guy makes some really cool computer cases.

I shaved 45 minutes off my ride in to work this morning (by not taking any wrong turns). That's 50% off my last ride in. I reckon I probably get it down to 35 minutes now that I know where I'm going.

I can't believe how soft my hands have become from wearing gloves over the winter. I've got blisters on my clutch hand from riding around without any last week.

It's been a while...

I've been a bit slack with posting lately... I've been spending most of my time either working or playing with my laptop and generally spending a lot less time on the net than usual.

The new job's been going ok and I've been busy (probably why I've been spending less time on the net.) Almost finished my first ASP.Net project which is off to the client on Friday... I think it's mostly just cosmetics that still need a little tweaking before the first release is ready.

Last night I went out for a nice Thai meal and some drinks with a few friends. Ramon was taking photos so I'll post a few if I can get hold of them.

"Months"? What do they mean "Months"?

Sony Gears Up for U.S. PlayStation Portable Launch

By Ben Berkowitz

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - There is no doubt that Sony Corp. will have a hit on its hands in the PlayStation Portable video game and media player which launches next week -- and there is no doubt the industry needs it.

Demand is so high for the PSP in the United States that the unit has become virtually unavailable in Japan and Sony has postponed the European launch by months to boost U.S. supply. The paperback-book sized unit launches March 24 in North America.

"It's all about how many of these devices Sony can actually crank out," said Mark Argento, a games analyst at ThinkEquity Partners.

Pitter-patter of tiny fans...

My laptop finally arrived today and I'm in love. It's HUGE!

I couldn't get maternity leave (even though I asked... I should have checked the contract) but I did get the afternoon of to spend some quality time with her.

I've almost finished setting up my development profile and then I can get on to installing some fun stuff into the fun stuff profile.

Work

It's all good so far. Yesterday was spent onsite with a client which was a bit slow but I got to get my hands dirty with a new SQL Server database this morning (which always makes my day) and had to rush off to visit another client in the afternoon just as I was about to start on the ASP side...

There aren't any visits planned for tomorrow so I should be able to get a fair amount of work in which is good because deadlines are tight (as always).

Important stuff: Bike parking & pub within 100m of the front door and a decent sandwich place just a little further down the road.

New Job

Well... I start on Monday. I hope it's as good as it sounded in the interview.

It's all kicking off...

I haven't just been sitting around the house playing games and growing a beard (although there has been some of that....) and have been making an effort to get some work.

I've just come back from an interview that sounded quite promising... definitely the kind of work that I would like to be doing but it's not going to be in a team environment which is a bit of a pity. There is the option of taking it on as a permanent position or just as a contract as work needs to be farmed out.

I've also got an unconfirmed interview with someone else tomorrow for a eight week contract starting on Monday (someone's left things until the last minute) and which would be in my area. I'll find out about that one later.

Hmmm... Perhaps I should stick to contracting for a while. It pays better and if the work is available then it's a lot more varied and interesting than doing different flavours of the same sort of thing in permanent employment.

I get the feeling things are picking up in the IT market.
