Scientists make 'bionic' muscles

Scientists have developed artificial, super-strength muscles which are powered by alcohol and hydrogen.

And they could eventually be used to make more advanced prosthetic limbs, say researchers at University of Texas.

Writing in Science, they say these artificial muscles are 100 times more powerful than the body's own.

They said they could even be used in "exoskeletons" to give superhuman strength to certain professions such as firefighters, soldiers and astronauts.

New Kit

In a moment of weakness I splashed out and bought a new monitor. The 19" CRT & 17" TFT that I was using was just not doing it for me anymore.

It's the Dell 3007WFP and it's a beast. I don't know how I got by on just 17" viewable screen for so long. I'm pretty impressed with it. So far I haven't found any dead pixels or noticed any ghosting on video playback. I'll have to do some more testing though.

...and best of all, it now gives me an excuse to get a X1900 Master Card seeing that the second graphics card's performance gains only kick in over the X1900XTX at 1600x1024.
